Every Co-operative Society which has been registered under the Co-operative Ordinance No. 10 of 1990 which has been amended by the Amendment No. 04 of 1993 of the Central Province has agreed to work in pursuance of Co-operative philosophy and objectives and in reaching the objectives in terms of the by - laws of the respective societies, various management activities done by them are connected with the legal provisions given in the ordinance.

As such, by supervising that such activities have been done according to the existing law, it is necessary to obtain the accommodation of the Central Provincial Commissioner/Registrar including zonal Headquarters Development officers and assistant Commissioners. Accordingly the Development Division of the Department is eagerly engaged in setting these essential management activities according to legal provisions correctly and efficiently to fulfill the aspirations of our clients.


  • Registering a Society.
  • Approval for the purchase and disposal of property (Movable and Immovable Property).
  • Approval of manpower assessment.
  • Approval of manpower.
  • Amendment of by - laws.
  • Approval for loans and permanent drafts.
  • Approval for temporary drafts.
  • Approval for disclaiming rights (when it exceeds Rs.1,000/=).
  • Granting approval to open up a bank account.
  • Approval of limits for the external loans (As approved for in by - laws).
  • Approval for the distribution of dividends.

In achieving the objectives of Co-operative Societies which have been registered under the Co-operative Ordinance of the Central Province their limited resources such as;

When the above limited resources are geared to achieve the desired objectives;

  • Classification of information
  • Entering the information
  • Summarizing the information
  • Preparation of financial statements

When the above accounting activities are performed and in order to achieve the objectives of societies, the Department has to see whether the activities performed by the societies conform to the auditing principles and in this regard it is the duty of the Department to get them audited by a Co-operative Development Officer as it is a legal requirement.
